Rather, this is your eye at 1000x magnification. Note how the pupil resembles a black hole, “sucking up” everything around it, including the iris. It might look dirty; this shouldn’t surprise you. Over 75% of our eyes have foreign objects in them, including extremely miniscule dust particles. What looks like twigs and sticks are actually the veins that carry the blood to your eye. That’s why your eye will fill in red whenever you burst a vein. Also, note the yellow tint running off the screen and into the pupil. That’s a cataract; the subject of this photograph is over eighty years old.
